Joe and Geoff – Better Than Friends (part 4)

“Yes, you can be brothers!”

“YES!”

I am so happy! said Joe.

I am happy too!

I had a bunkbed for a longtime.
I could not use the top bunk
and now you can use it.

Does your bedroom
have a door code to open it?

It sure does.

Yes, I cannot wait to use it!

Me either!

“Boys, time to go to the
big game that we have
been packing a week for.”

Ok, Mom. said Joe.

Ok, Mom. said Geoff.
What is the big game?

The big game is the Super
Bowl 70.  It takes place in
California.

I had a foster family that I
lived with for 2 months
in California.

I wonder if we will be able to
see them at the big game?

I don’t want to see them
at the big game because
they sometimes
embarrass me.
But they do have a
family member
who plays for the
New England Patriots.

Ok, but we are rooting for
the Patriots!

That’s fine.

“Boys, COME ON!”

“We’re coming, Mom!”

Joe and Geoff – The Talk (part three)

Hey Joe.  Can I have a second?

Sure, Geoff. What do you need?

I know that this may be
a lot, but I have been lying
to you.

What have you been lying to
me about, Geoff?

I am an orphan.

An orphan?

That means…

I know what that means, Geoff.
But why?

I did not want you to think
I am different.

Hey, Geoff, I am adopted
and I need a brother.

YES!

Joe and Geoff Meets Teacher After Recess (part 2 of the series)

Hi Geoff said Mrs. Fletcher.

Hi Mrs. Fletcher! said Geoff

I heard from Joe that you
have lived all over the world.
Is that true, Geoff?

Yes, AND JOE
TOLD YOU THAT?

Yes and we have a country
project coming up.  You and your
family can work on the project
together. Ok, Geoff?

Can I tell you a secret?

Sure, anything.

I am an orphan.

You are? That means
you have been lying to
Joe for the whole day.

No, not exactly.
I did live in all
these different
places, but I was
with different families.
I am in the foster care
system.  I am hoping that
this family becomes my
permanent family!

I did not want to tell Joe
because I thought that he
would think I was different
and would not want to be
my friend anymore,
Mrs. Fletcher.

Geoff, it’s okay.
Everyone is different.
And you should go tell Joe.
I think he would still want
to be your friend.
He is nice and very respectful
of what people think,
so I think you would be fine.

GULP.
Ok, I am
going to talk to Joe.

I was courageous when…

I was testing for my black belt.  I was super scared at the beginning of this test.  In the middle of the test I was actually less scared.  At the end of the test I was super duper scared that I would fail the test for my black belt.  But I was super happy that I did it any way.

Joe and Geoff meet (part 1 of the series)

Hi, my name is Joe.
What’s your name?

Hi Joe.
My name is Geoff
but instead of a J it’s
spelled with a G.
I am the new kid.

Well Geoff do you want to
go the park after school
and I can show you around
North Hampton? said Joe.

Sure.  I would love
you to show me around
the new town said Geoff.

Ok, I will show you around
where my house is after
school.  Is that ok? said Joe.

Yes that’s fine. said Geoff

Here is a picture of our school.
We are the North Hampton
School Jaguars. Is that cool? asks Joe.

Yes! It’s super cool.
I would have been a
Viking if I did not
move to North Hampton.

That means you used
to live in Greenland. Right Geoff?

You are right Joe.
I did live in
Greenland for a little.

A little Geoff?
Did you move a lot?

I was born in Hong Kong.
That is part of China.
We moved all around the world.

Yes! Now we
can be friends forever!

I know!  This is probably
my favorite one of all
the spots I have ever lived
in my entire life.
You are my best friend
out of people I have met.

Yes, I am super glad that
you liked North Hampton
a lot!  Oh, here’s our school.
And you are my best friend too!
